Top healing therapist Tim Sullivan uses all forms of Chinese medicine and many other therapies to complete a treatment: including Acupuncture, Acupressure (Tui Na), Shiatsu, Reflexology, Bio Energy Healing, Massage and Aromatherapy. Holistic Healing for Pain and StressSullivan explained in a meeting with Suite 101 at his clinic on the 28th May that he not only treats patients with acute problems such as Sciatica, headaches, sports injuries, muscle pain, whiplash and lower back pain but also specialises in chronic long term problems. Depression, anxiety, stress, high blood pressure, Insomnia, period pain, fatigue, scoliosis are all conditions that need a core approach involving treatment of the whole body, mind and spirit. Tim Teaches Self-HealingHe feels that in order to alleviate chronic disease patients need to change many aspects of their lives. Change can only come from the patient and he has supported many of them on their fascinating journey of self-healing. Otherwise any treatment is just a sticking plaster. The patient will become dependent on the practitioner to continue to give temporary relief. Very unsatisfying for both health and wallet! Consultation and Healing SessionsIn a session with Tim he assesses primary problem, then the habits and patterns that contribute to this. Finally he will help his patient see what can be changed and where that change will lead e.g. the physical habit of constantly sitting at the computer desk can cause in some people pain in the neck, shoulders, RSI, carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back pain, sciatica etc. The physical problem of sitting at a desk is often compounded by stress and suppressed emotions. Tim will not only help heal the physical pain but also helps the patient to release the stress and emotions from the body via his own methods. He explains that if a person is aware of their emotion and they are unable to express it for whatever reason, then that emotion will be suppressed. That person will constantly be trying to hold in what they are actually feeling and that suppressed emotion "lingers" in the body, causing physical signs and symptoms. Emotions affect the body and the body affects emotions, but just because the physical symptom disappears it does not mean that the underlying suppressed emotion isn't still there. Sullivan illustrates thus "If you have a headache caused by your anger, then the headache goes, it does not mean the anger is gone. You can have unexpressed anger for many years at a person, and that anger can have caused your irritable bowl syndrome. Just because you have forgiven that person or intellectually treated that anger with psychotherapy for many years, it does not mean that irritable bowl syndrome will disappear. Because the habit has been set, the body is so accustomed to reacting in this way, that it continues to demonstrate that even with the absence of the emotion itself. So we need to treat the body and mind together, we need to see that as one unit. Lack of awareness of our habits and patterns or a feeling that we are unable to change them is the biggest obstacle to complete healing. Our habits often cause our disease, both physical and mental." Correct Breathing Can Help HealingTim starts with the breath. He naturally feels where the breath moves, how it reacts and how disease affects the breath. Through first of all noticing the breath, his patients are given a tool to see how they are reacting physically to their disease and then with practical exercises can challenge chronic habits that cause the physical and emotional problems. Through the breath, he believes people can help themselves heal. His belief to quote is "If you cannot unclench your fist you would be worried, but most of us put up with a stiff back or neck and think it's normal and unavoidable in our current life. I want to give all my patients the choice to be "yogis", able to contract and relax any of their muscles, because then the body and mind will have freedom of pain and tension." Tim Sullivan is not only a dedicated and gifted therapist but a truly wise teacher whose wish it is to empower and liberate his patients sending them on their own path with the knowledge and self awareness to take control of their own well being.
